The National Youth Choir, a project of the Association of Canadian Choral Communities, is an SATB group of forty singers between the ages of 18 and 25. The choristers, selected by audition from across the country, represent some of Canada's finest young singers.
The position is a two-week, residential term consisting of a rehearsal period of five full days and a touring period of ten days in mid-May, 2012. The conductor is responsible for choosing a challenging program that includes a cappella works, accompanied works, and Canadian compositions. The conductor also mentors the National Youth Choir Conductor Apprentice. A tour coordinator and accompanist are provided. The final performance will take place in Ottawa at PODIUM, the ACCC's biennial conference for Canadian choral practitioners.
