$47,000 Grant Strikes the Right Note with the John Laing Singers

John Laing Singers awarded a three-year, $47,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

On February 7,2010, just before the John Laing Singers took the stage there was some exciting news to share with the audience. Kate Bursey, a volunteer with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, formally announced  the that this popular local chamber choir has recieved a three-year, $47000 grant that will help them continue to grow.

"Receiving support for the continued success of the John Laing Singers is always music to the ears. We know that investing in marketing and promotion will take this choral group to the next level," said Hamilton Centre MPP Andrea Horwath.

The John Laing Singers plan to use this grant to raise their public profile through strategic advertising and  ultimately to continue contributing to Hamilton's active arts scene.

Carol Goodrow, the choir's president said," This grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundationwill allow The John Laing Singers (JLS) to expand our efforts on some key JLS goals: to involve, educate, and positively impact a growing audience through the experience of high standard, live choral performances in educational,civic,and cultural settings in our region.

Established in 1982, The John Laing Singers have represented Canada at international festivals in France and Switzerland.
