University of Toronto Choral Conducting Symposium 2012

This intensive, one-week seminar is an excellent opportunity for music teachers and community chorus conductors to gain professional development and continuing education credits (graduate and undergraduate). The combination of learning and camaraderie of fellow music teachers and other conductors makes for a stimulating and enjoyable experience.

Monday, July 9th until Friday, July 13th, 2012 (workshop ends at noon on Friday)

Toronto, ON, Canada  

Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt and Dr. Lori-Anne Dolloff,  Instructors

The seminar will focus on:

  • Choral pedagogy and rehearsal planning
  • Daily rehearsals with the Symposium Singers
  • Repertoire selection
  • Conducting master classes
  • Individual consultations in conducting and vocal technique

 

Special topics include Dalcroze Eurhythmics, ?vocal health, and vocal jazz techniques.

Caron Daley, conductor, clinician, performer, and certified Dalcroze Eurhythmics instructor.

Christopher Dawes, choral accompanist and concert organist.

Elizabeth McDonald, soprano, U of T Voice Faculty.

Brenda Uchimaru, educator at Unionville High School and Artistic Director of Kokoro Singers.
