Amadeus Choral Conducting Workshop: March 23-25, 2018Application Deadline: December 1, 2017 2017/10/04
The Amadeus Choir’s Conductor and Artistic Director Lydia Adams is pleased to announce the inaugural Amadeus Choral Conducting Workshop, from March 23 – 25, 2018 at Eglinton St. George’s United Church in Toronto. The workshop will conclude with a concert conducted by Amadeus conductors and workshop participants on March 25 at 4:00 pm.
The workshop is open to choral conducting students and established conductors of community choirs, university programs and church choirs. Six participants will be selected through an application process to work with the Amadeus Choir’s three conductors: Lydia Adams, Shawn Grenke and Joan Andrews. The participants will work with the Amadeus Choir and Eglinton St. George’s Choir. We also welcome auditors to attend the full workshop.
Repertoire: Repertoire will be chosen to fit the ability and experience of the conductor. Repertoire will reflect standard and contemporary international and Canadian works for mixed choir, and may be drawn from works by Hubert Parry, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Imant Raminsh, Felix Mendelssohn, Healy Willan, Eleanor Daley, Derek Holman, Leon Dubinsky and Lydia Adams.
Seminar focus: Repertoire and concert programming; score preparation; score marking techniques; rehearsal planning; efficient and artistic choral gesture; development of excellent choral sound.
Seminar includes: One-on-one coaching in score and concert preparation; rehearsals with the choirs; performance in concert.
