Choirs Ontario and National Music Camp present the Children’s Choir Camp; an extraordinary choir camp combining an exceptional musical experience with a premiere camp facility for children in grades three to eight.

Choir Segment

The Children’s Choir Camp, a component of the National Music Camp, takes place at Camp Wahanowin on shores of beautiful Lake Couchiching, just north of Orillia. For over 45 years, young musicians have come from across Ontario and Canada to enjoy a stimulating programme of music instruction with a wide range of recreational activities, including water-skiing, swimming, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, baseball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, archery, golf and arts and crafts. A typical day at the camp includes four hours of music instruction, two recreation periods and a nightly concert.

The choir this year will be led by renowned conductor Mitch Bondy. Mr. Bondy has earned wide acclaim for his work with children’s choirs at Northlea Public School and the Toronto Kiwanis Music Festival, where his choirs consistently win scholarships and awards, including the William B. Rothwell Trophy for Best Overall Elementary Choral Singing. Mr. Bondy has conducted several children’s choir camps in Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and is in demand across Ontario as an adjudicator and clinician. In December 2002, Mr. Bondy was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for his contribution to the musical life of Toronto. Mr. Bondy holds an Honours Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Education from the University of Toronto.

The Children’s Choir Camp runs from August 22 to August 28, 2010. The fee is $749.00 per chorister, or $699.00 if enrolled by March 1, 2010.
